Composed in the years following his father’s death & assembled in the final year of operation of his recording studio, with eviction looming, Comeau co-opts the developer’s declaration of the period of ‘preconstruction’, telling the story of those displaced in the name of progress, & laying out his acknowledgement of the preciousness of life & the beauty of the present moment.

Consisting of both studio & live recordings, composed & improvised pieces, & informed by his extensive production work, Comeau employs a wide range of recording techniques in his instrumental music. Initially conceived as a sophomore five-record companion to 2016’s Exile, what we are left with is a fine distillation of Comeau’s journey through grief.
